Our kava comes from one place: Epi Island in Vanuatu, where kava has been grown by hand for about 3,000 years. It starts with a cutting from an older plant (kava can't be grown from seed) planted by local farmers who've been doing this for generations. Once in the ground, it's left alone for 3-4 years to grow slowly and naturally – no shortcuts.
When it's ready, we use only the root — not the stems, not the leaves, just the part that matters. From there, it travels straight to our U.S. lab, where we extract it using nothing but CO2, the same natural gas used to decaffeinate coffee. No chemicals, no solvents, nothing left behind — just what the root naturally contains.
Sourcing our kava this way means real support for the small farming community that grows it. It's the same generations-old, low-intervention method Epi Island farmers have always used — good for the land, and good for the people who've relied on kava for their livelihood for generations.
